The RT-PCR test is the gold standard for COVID-19 testing. RT-PCR uses genetic material from one of these samples, amplifies it, and then compares it to the genetic sequence of the virus you are trying to detect. At our labs we use the latest systems to handle each specimen with the greatest care. We use Thermo Fisher and BD Max RT-PCR tests because they directly detect the presence of an antigen. Results will be available within 1-2 days of your test.

STEP 3 Stop at the Testing Area, as directed by staff.
STEP 4 A Prism Health Lab staff member will assist you.
STEP 1 We insert a 6-inch long swab into the back of the nasal passage through one nostril.
STEP 2 We rotate the swab several times for 15 seconds.
STEP 3 Repeat this process through the other nostril.
STEP 4 The swab is then placed into a container for testing. This collection process only takes 5 to 10 minutes.
STEP 1 Prism Health Lab sends your test to the lab.
STEP 2 The lab analyzes the swab for traces of COVID-19.
STEP 3 You will receive a secure message in 1-2 days with your result for a PCR test. Rapid test results will be sent within an hour.
STEP 4 If the result is positive, we will continue your care plan with a tele-visit with one of our physician assistants to give you personalized instructions and answer any questions you may have about your diagnosis.
STEP 5 Now that you’re in our system, it’s easier than ever to make another appointment if needed.
If you are uninsured, your test is covered by the federal government HRSA program. If you are insured, we will bill your insurance; you will not be charged a copay or deductible. If your insurance company attempts to pass the bill to you, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any supporting documents. Please note, we will never charge you for your COVID-19 test and will always support you to resolve any issues.
